Joins the BTM team June 2011Castle Rock Professional event host
Please join me in welcoming Jody Morgan to the Behind The Moon team of Event Hosts! I first met Jody in 2010 and knew right away that she was a powerhouse connector in the community. Jody has a natural passion for connecting and helping others succeed. Her first inclination is to identify needs and then Jody does what she can to find the resources to assist, whether personally or professionally. Jody will be co-hosting BTM's Castle Rock networking event with Donna Mazzitelli, but you can bet her involvement with BTM won't stop there! Please stop by our Castle Rock networking event (3rd Thursday monthly @ 2:00pm) to meet Jody... you will be glad you did! ~Sabrina Risley
Here is Jody in her own words...
Thank you for the warm welcome, Sabrina, team & Behind the Moon community! Ever since attending my first Behind the Moon networking event, I have felt home. The warmth I experienced from that first meeting reminded me of my southern roots. I grew up an Alabama girl and southern hospitality is my way of life. In my early twenties, I made my way from Birmingham to the panhandle of Florida, Panama City Beach to be exact and made it my home because weekend visits to the beach were just not enough. I studied communications at Florida State University. I fell in love with my husband Jim, a transplant from Denver. A few years after, we married I gave birth to twin daughters Lizzie & Leah. Little did I know that Jim would grow home sick and would want to come home to Colorado. We moved to Colorado in May of 2007. I have to say that I didn't WANT to like Colorado, but I do. I have met some pretty amazing people and my favorite beach is just an airplane ride away.
When my girls were born premature, I left traditional corporate America to be home with them. I had a career I flourished in but couldn't maintain the work schedule I was accustomed to and care for preemies. It wasn't long before I was in a good routine with them and I was itching for something of my "own". I became an independent consultant for a direct sales company and for the next decade I built a multi-million dollar sales team from scratch, received top honors in sales, team building and leader building annually, went on lots of FREE trips and discovered my LOVE for speaking and corporate training. I recently resigned from that company to focus on my new passions..... speaking, writing and educating families on getting the toxins out of their homes to live healthier and in a safer, cleaner environment.
When I moved to Colorado, I didn't expect my life to change so dramatically. I never thought I would leave my career in direct sales but life has a way of turning your world upside down and showing you that sometimes your path isn't the path you think it is going to be. It became very clear to me last year when my daughter Leah was sick for months and doctors couldn't find out what was wrong with her. She had been "sick" since the day she was born, but in 2010 her body turned on her. Doctors kept treating her symptoms without finding out what was causing them. I finally trusted my intuition and ran my own tests on her. We ended the year with a confirmed diagnosis of Celiac Disease and I am happy to report that she is doing remarkable!! However,
If you don't know about Celiac Disease, do know that it is very serious if gone untreated and so many people have it, undiagnosed, and don't know why they are so sick. I am going to be a first-time published author and you can read the story about my journey to Leah's diagnosis in Speaking Your Truth Volume II due out in the Fall of 2011. When you have a sick child, you will do anything for them. I was searching everywhere for answers and along the way, my entire family became healthier in the process. During my journey of her diagnosis, I realized that I wanted to help people. Let me change that, I HAD to help people. One of the best phone calls I have ever received was just recently. I had a client call me and say "My life has changed because of you and I want to thank you." I know that is a pretty huge statement. Imagine being on the receiving end of it.
I am so very excited to be joining Sabrina and the Behind the Moon team. The energy in this group is contagious and the "Go-Give" drive of its founder and members is what has made it so successful. I am honored to be a part of this group and look forward to meeting many of you in the very near future. If there is anything I can do for you, please let me know. I am at your service.
With gratitude,
Jody Morgan
